Since the day, my twin girls were born our home life was always filled with energy, chaos, high struck, craziness. I was lucky to have two healthy girls (although premature and low birth weight) we noticed right from the start that they were always behind developmentally and in immaturity compared to our friends who had children the same age. Although they always had their struggles they were well liked by their peers and always made everyone laugh with their funny personalities. However when kindergarten started we noticed that they began to struggle in ways that began to set them apart from everyone else. As all young children have tantrums and meltdowns, mine were having those more often and would go on FOREVER! As a teacher, and owner of my own private daycare, I had more experience than the average person about children’s behaviors. Nothing I tried worked, and I was at my wits end.
When my twin girls entered grade 1, we realized that enough was enough, no more excuses for their behaviour. Life was too exhausting and way too hard to continue in this way. This was NOT normal! I did some research and found some recommendations for Connect The Dots. I had a friend who had her son in the program the year before and saw amazing changes in him. We started in the summer of 2015 during “summer camp” and from that first day…our life changed. The girls began to learn what was acceptable behavior, strategies they can use when they were upset and how to socialize better with other children. Stacy, Kathy and their entire team, fell in love with my girls and we developed a fantastic relationship. My husband and I learned how our behavior was affecting the girls and what we had to do change it, and the girls learned how to manage in their everyday lives without the screaming, awful meltdowns. We cannot thank Stacy enough for her help, dedication, experience and overall care that she has for every single one of her kids in her care. Every parent who has struggled with their child’s behavior and is at a loss of what to do, should contact the “Connect the Dots” team and get their child/ren on track to a happier, brighter life.
